Our story
AppleGum Valley is a family-run flower farm in the Hunter Valley, where we grow seasonal, sustainable flowers and seeds that celebrate the charm of old-fashioned varieties. Our blooms are richly scented, timelessly beautiful, and chosen for the emotion and memory they evoke.
Each arrangement is crafted with care to bring a sense of nostalgia and connection, capturing the heartfelt beauty of nature’s most treasured moments. We are proud to grow our flowers locally on our 43-acre farm, and we warmly invite you to experience our flowers and seed’s beauty firsthand.
Since purchasing the farm in 2014, we have lovingly developed the gardens of AppleGum Valley farm growing alongside the existing cattle farming operation, guided by a lifelong passion for roses and gardening. That journey led to the planting of our first cut flower field in September 2025, a milestone we are deeply grateful for and excited to share.
Our philosophy
Our flowers and seed bring!
HOPE - JOY - BEAUTY
We believe flowers are far more than a product.
Their value cannot be measured only in money, because they nourish something far greater than profit alone. Flowers lift a space, mark life’s special moments, and bring happiness in ways that are deeply personal and lasting.
Spending time in nature, growing and caring for flowers on our farm, is enriching for the soul. It gives us joy to see others appreciate what we grow, and the messages of gratitude we receive mean more to us than monetary gain.
We are passionate about sharing our flowers, seeds, and farm with others. Our hope is to inspire people to grow their own flowers and experience the same sense of wonder and fulfilment they bring to us every day. Flowers carry a simple but powerful message: they bring hope, joy, and beauty into the world.
Why local flowers matter
We also believe in the value of growing and buying local.
In a climate so suited to producing fresh flowers, importing blooms from far away feels less sustainable and less supportive of local growers and farming communities.
Choosing local flowers helps strengthen the buy-local mindset and encourages more people to value what can be grown close to home.
Our wish
We hope our flowers inspire others the way we have been inspired to follow our own dreams. We invite people to grow their own flowers, enjoy their beauty, and discover the
hope, joy, and beauty flowers can bring into everyday life.
Our flowers
Inspired by the beautiful gardens of …
The Hunter Valley gardens locally within The Hunter Valley NSW Australia.
Sharyn’s mother Jeanine and Grand mother Hazels love of gardening and blooms. Sharyn’s Grand mother Hazel gardened and shared her love of blooms as she always had cut flowers each week no matter what the season within her home. From rose’s, camellia’s, hydrangea’s, geranium’s and many more as the season came a new flower would enter her home and always brought elegance and fragrance that is remembered to this day. A walk around her garden on each visit to discuss the changes of each plant and blooms was always cherished and still remembered.
Janey from Dig Plant Water Repeat on You Tube in Davis CA US zone 9b in which our property is of a similar climate zone on the US climate zone mapping system.
Robbie McMenomey from Visit Our Garden on You Tube from Los Molinos CA US.
Following both Janey and Robbie’s channels on the improvement and development of their gardens and their love of plants and blooms has been a great source of encouragement.
Laura and Aaron LeBoutillier of Garden Answer on You Tube in the U.S. Following their channel over many years and Laura’s journey in developing beautiful gardens. I have gained knowledge of plant diversity, how they can be used and gained encouragement to try new things in the garden. Erin Benzakeinon from Floret on You Tube of Floret Flowers in Washington State, breeder and researcher for new and old varieties of cut flowers, we’ve even grown imported Floret Originals such as Zinnia’s and Celosia to enrich our collection.
Today, our fields also feature exquisite David Austin roses — from delicate blush tones to deep Bordeaux crimson reds — all grown with care and devotion. Inspired with romantic tonings- our flowers, autumn, whites to blush are on trend. Fragrance is at the heart of what we do. The perfume of our flowers is more than a sensory delight — it’s a bridge to memory.
Science tells us that the olfactory bulb and cortex are closely linked to the hippocampus and amygdala, the centre of memory and emotion. This is why a scent can instantly transport us to a cherished moment — and why we believe fragrance is the soul of every bloom.
We’re proud to offer direct-from-the-farm flowers and seed to our local community and florists across Australia.
